We’re recruiting an Identity and Access Administrator to join our Information and Communication Technology service at Milton Keynes City Council. We support colleagues across the organisation by keeping our systems secure, accessible and compliant, so the council can deliver more than 200 vital services to residents every day.

This role plays a key part in protecting council data and systems by managing how colleagues access our digital tools and information. You’ll help ensure the right people have the right access at the right time, working closely with security colleagues to monitor threats, respond to incidents and continually improve how information is protected across the council.

This role is well suited to someone with strong experience in identity and access management who enjoys problem solving and working collaboratively across teams.

This role may be suitable for home working, following an assessment. Home‐based roles require a minimum of one day per week working from the office or site.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Manage the full identity lifecycle using Microsoft Entra ID, including user access, group membership and permissions.
  • Design, maintain and review conditional access and security policies to protect council systems.
  • Administer Microsoft Intune to support secure and compliant devices across the organisation.
  • Monitor and respond to security alerts, working with colleagues to investigate and resolve incidents.
  • Configure data protection controls to ensure sensitive information is shared safely and appropriately.
  • Produce clear reports and recommendations to help improve the council’s security posture.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Strong experience in identity and access management within a Microsoft environment.
  • A sound understanding of security monitoring, incident response and data protection principles.
  • The ability to explain technical issues clearly to colleagues with different levels of technical knowledge.
