This is a highly visible leadership role with responsibility for dayâtoâday repairs across our eleven thousand council homes. Youâll join us to deliver our repairs, maintenance and disrepair service working with our contractor to ensure these are delivered.
Reporting to the Assistant Director for Housing Maintenance, Investment and Corporate Health and Safety, youâll work closely with colleagues across Milton Keynes City Council, including our Council Homes Safety Lead and Capital Works Lead. Youâll also line manage a team of supervisors and surveyors.

Main Responsibility
- Provide strategic leadership for housing repairs, maintenance and disrepair services
- Manage contractors to deliver highâquality work on time, to standard and within budget
- Ensure homes meet health and safety, building safety and consumer standards
- Oversee budgets, contractor performance, costs and resident experience, reporting on spend and outcomes
- Use accurate repairs and stock data to analyse trends and support longâterm asset management
- Work across internal teams and deputise for the Assistant Director, leading service improvements and savings
The Ideal Candidate
- Degreeâlevel qualification in housing, surveying, project management or a related field, or equivalent experience
- Significant experience delivering repairs and maintenance services in social housing
- Proven ability to manage contractors and contract performance effectively
- Experience handling high volumes of work, complex data and performance reporting at senior level
- Strong relationshipâbuilding skills with residents, colleagues and external partners
- Sound knowledge of housing law, safety standards and decency requirements
- Experience managing substantial budgets, with willingness to work towards a relevant professional housing qualification
Full UK Driving Licence and access to a vehicle
To be successful in this role, youâll need a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. Our roles are either designated âsite basedâ or âhome basedâ. âSite basedâ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst âhome basedâ roles are based at home four days a week. Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
