We’re seeking a people-focused, adaptable and approachable Housing Commissioning Support Officer to join our Housing Strategy Team.

We’re responsible for purchasing new homes for use as Council rental properties as well as managing all leasehold properties owned by the Council, including handling service charges and associated fees. We also support colleagues during the handover of these new properties.

A key part of our work involves monitoring the delivery of new affordable housing across the city. One of our current major projects is the delivery of 183 new Council homes on the Lakes Estate in Bletchley.

While previous experience is not essential for this role, a basic understanding of affordable housing from a Council and Planning perspective would be beneficial.

This role may be suitable for home working, following an assessment.

Main Responsibility

  • Processing payments to housing management companies in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Monitoring the delivery of Affordable Housing by housing associations across the city.
  • Liaising with Housing colleagues to report and follow up on defects in newly built homes.
  • Supporting the handover process for new properties, including logging meter readings and checking keys and access.
  • Taking accurate and clear minutes during meetings.
  • Responding to general enquiries and Freedom of Information (FOI) requests via email.

Driving Licence and Vehicle Insurance with Business Insurance

For this role, the candidate is required to have a full UK driving licence, along with access to a vehicle.

Evidence of the driving licence and vehicle insurance with business insurance will be required from the candidate should they be offered this position. Without this documentation the candidate will not be appointable.

Our roles are either designated ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. ‘Site based’ roles can include up to two days a week working from home whilst ‘home based’ roles are based at home four days a week.Of course, managers designate which category roles are in based on the needs of the service and the circumstances.
