Do you have project management experience within a healthcare setting? Do you have good knowledge of construction? Are you educated to masterās level and are good at budgeting and planning? #TeamMKUH are currently hiring a Capital Project Manager on a permanent basis.
Collaborating alongside the Head of Capital Projects, Purchasing and Supplying, Health and Safety and the wider Estates team, you will develop and implement capital management policy and procedures, provide specialist advice on sustainable and healthcare designs. Additionally, you will have directpostive project management responsibility for implementing the scheme on time and on budget.

Main duties of the job
- Assist in the development of the Trustās Capital Programme and manage a number of specific http projects to improve the environment for patients and staff.
- Commission and manage delegated Capital projects including work on business case development.
- Lead a number of project meetings (Steering Groups & Specialist Design Groups) linked to schemes within the programme and provide technical input into those Project Group meetings.
- Provide expert specialist and professional construction, programme and cost advice in relation to the projects undertaken and more generally throughout the Trust on behalf of the Head of Projects (Capital).
- Engage in formal proactive knowledge management processes to take successful practices from NHSā¦(continued) and nonāNHS agencies and utilise them in the development and implementation of the Capital programme.
- Work with Head of Projects (Capital) to develop and implement capital management policies and procedures for the department, provide specialist advice on sustainable design issues to healthcare designers and planners, and undertake audits on proposed designs to ensure they meet organisational requirements.
- Maintain an inādepth and upātoādate knowledge of sustainable and healthācare related design issues Ų³Ų±ŁÖ“ction.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Main duties and responsibilities
- Assisting in the development of longāterm capital plans and procurement strategies that are ongoing and interārelated.
- Developing an Operational Plan ÖÕ”Õ¾ collectively for delivery of the approved development schemes linked to the Trustās Estate Strategy, Master Plan and Integrated Business Plan.
- Utilising the Computer Aided Design packages to design, plan and develop appropriate improvement schemes.
- Being a key member of the Trustās Estates Team, providing information, designs and organising improvement works.
- Playing an active role in drafting and implementing the Estates business plan to achieve Trust business and strategic goals.
- Analyzing complex issues involving the built environment, challenging assumptions and current practices, and contributing to the development of operational policies.
- Briefing specialist consultants and contractors, managing tender and construction processes ā with internal clients and nominated external consultants, using appropriate methods.
- Assisting in the development and communication of multiāstranded project, design, financial, contractual policies and information to Board Senior Managers and anthropers.
- Making judgments across a wide range of Estates Project issues, taking into account legislation, H&S, conflicting demands, finance, and expert advice on Estates matters (including projects and strategy) and formulating longāterm Estates development options.
- Advising on the appointment of independent consultants.
- Being actively engaged in public consultation with patient groups in the design of buildings, including running design workshops and site/building inspections.
- Being actively involved in the development of operational policies for clinical departments for business cases.
- Managing delegated estates projects and equipment purchase budgets, procuring physical assets and consultant input, and developing longāterm working relationships with construction professionals.
- Conducting a range of Estates surveys and audits for various publications such as the annual Estates Strategy.
- Undertaking formal knowledgeāmanagement activities to improve service delivery.
- Carrying out visits in allą¤Ŗą¤ą¤æ weather and using PPE when working ą°ą°ą°” time in service ducts andą¦øą§ą¦ drains.
- Leading negotiations where high levels of mental effort are required for understanding conflicting views and requirements of various parties to the development, planning the delivery capital schemes, and dealing with project emergencies.
- Encouraging an imaginative approach to training and development within the appraisal system, including coaching and shadowing.
