Estates Gardener FTC until 30 January 2026
Department Estates
Band 3 £24,937 – £26,598 Per annum pro rata, plus a 10% additional salary payment (recruitment and retention)
Hours: 37.5 per week, flexible working will be considered.
Responsibilities
- Maintain all grounds and gardens in a neat and tidy state, making best use of resources available.
- Ensure all grounds equipment is maintained to acceptable levels and is fit for use.
- Ensure all Health & Safety procedures and practices are maintained in relation to service activity.
- Ensure all chemical spraying and associated activities are carried out in a safe and appropriate manner.
- Ensure all litter is regularly picked, collected and disposed of from all external waste bins, and public area’s.
- Support the Trust’s “No Visible Waste” Policy.
- Clear snow/ice as and when required – Gritting is required prior to potential risk.
- Carry out other tasks associated to this service as directed.
- Use mechanical and hand operated horticultural machinery in a safe manner.
- Carry out pruning and trimming of shrubs throughout site.
Qualifications & Requirements
Full driving licence required.
Desirable: Experience operating grounds maintenance machinery and working on a large site.
Good communicator, able to multi-task accurately under pressure, able to work with little direct supervision, flexible attitude to an ever-changing work environment.
Manual work in all weather conditions required.
