Social Worker - Level 3 in Milton Keynes

We’re recruiting a Social Worker (Level 3) to join our South Family Support Hub within Children’s Services. The South Family Support Hub works with children, young people and their families to provide early help and targeted support where there are concerns about a child's welfare, development or wellbeing. The team undertakes assessments, coordinates multi-agency support, and works alongside families to reduce risks and strengthen protective factors. The team helps children remain safe, supported and achieve positive outcomes within their families and communities. By identifying needs early and coordinating effective support, the service helps prevent issues from escalating, reduces the need for statutory intervention, and promotes better outcomes for residents across Milton Keynes.

The work is important because it safeguards vulnerable children, supports families through difficult circumstances, and helps improve long-term outcomes for children and young people. It ensures that children receive the right support at the right time, enabling them to thrive and reducing future demand on specialist and statutory services.

As a Level 3 Social Worker, you’ll manage a varied caseload of complex children and family cases, working directly with children, young people, families and partner agencies to assess needs, reduce risk and support positive change. You’ll play a key role in helping us make our city a better place to live while delivering services that support some of Milton Keynes’ most vulnerable residents.

This is a Site-Based role, and you’ll be expected to work from the designated workplace. Interviews will be held on a rolling basis throughout the advertising period. Suitable candidates may be invited to interview as applications are received.

• Undertaking child and family assessments, ensuring children are seen, heard and understood, and that assessments are completed within required timescales.
• Developing, implementing and reviewing plans and interventions that meet the needs of children and families while working within relevant legislation and statutory requirements.
• Managing a complex caseload and taking timely action to safeguard children and promote positive outcomes.
• Working closely with schools, health professionals, police, family support services and other partners to coordinate support and achieve lasting change.
• Representing the Local Authority in court proceedings, preparing reports, statements and care plans where required.
• Contributing to a positive team culture through effective partnership working, professional supervision and continuous development.

Ideal Candidate

• A recognised Social Work qualification (Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW or equivalent) and current registration with Social Work England.
• Experience of working with children, young people and families, with the ability to build positive relationships that support meaningful and lasting change.
• Strong assessment, analytical and decision-making skills, with the confidence to manage risk and respond effectively to complex situations.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills, with the ability to produce clear, accurate records and work collaboratively with colleagues and partner agencies.
• Resilience, adaptability and the ability to manage a varied caseload while balancing competing priorities and meeting statutory timescales.
• A commitment to continuous professional development, together with a valid UK driving licence, access to a vehicle and business insurance to support travel across Milton Keynes and surrounding areas.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. If we offer you the role, we’ll ask you to provide evidence of your driving licence and vehicle insurance, including cover for business use.
