We’re recruiting a Senior Analyst to join our Adults and Children’s Performance and Insights team. Do you have a talent for turning complex social care datasets into meaningful and engaging insights? Your work will help services understand performance, identify trends, and make informed decisions that improve outcomes for children, young people, families, and adults across our communities.

The Adults and Children’s Performance and Insights team plays a vital role in helping Milton Keynes City Council understand how services are performing, supporting evidence-based decision-making, service improvement, and statutory accountability. Working closely with Adult Social Care and Children’s Services, the team transforms complex information into clear and meaningful insight that supports better services and better outcomes for local people.

As a Senior Analyst, you'll play a key role in providing accurate, timely intelligence that helps managers and senior leaders make informed decisions. Working in a collaborative and supportive environment, you'll contribute to high-quality reporting, statutory returns, business intelligence, and evidence-based service development.

This role may be suitable for home working, following an assessment. Home‑based roles require a minimum of one day per week working from the office or site. Interviews for this role will be held on 10th September 2026.

  • Deliver high-quality performance analysis and business intelligence that helps managers and leaders make evidence-based decisions.
  • Lead on the production of clear and accessible performance reports that identify trends, risks, opportunities, and areas for improvement.
  • Support the development of reporting systems, processes, and performance frameworks across Adult Social Care, Children’s Services, and the wider organisation.
  • Work collaboratively to improve data quality, data standards, and information governance while promoting consistent use of performance information.
  • Coordinate statutory returns and provide analytical support during inspections and regulatory activity.
  • Take responsibility for coaching and supporting colleagues to develop reporting skills and make effective use of business intelligence tools.

Ideal Candidate

You bring a degree-level qualification in statistics, information management, or a related subject, or equivalent professional experience in a similar analytical role. Your ability to analyse complex datasets and present findings in a clear and meaningful way enables others to make informed decisions. Experience in using analytical and reporting tools such as SQL, Power BI, SQL Server Reporting Services, or comparable technologies will help you succeed in this role. A strong understanding of performance management, business intelligence, and data quality principles is essential. Confidence when communicating with colleagues, managers, partners, and stakeholders allows you to explain complex information in a simple and accessible way. Proven skills in producing statutory returns within Adult Social Care or Children’s Services, or the ability to demonstrate transferable experience in a comparable reporting environment, are highly valued.

Basic DBS: As part of the pre-employment checks, should you be offered the role, we’ll carry out a Basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.
