Roles are either ‘site based’ or ‘home based’. Site based roles are mainly based at the workplace, with the option to work from home for up to two days a week, depending on service needs. Home based roles are mainly based at home, with the expectation of attending the workplace up to one day a week. The working arrangement for each role is set by the manager, based on service requirements.

Job Introduction:

We’re recruiting a part-time (18 hours per week) Children’s Services Support Assistant to join our dedicated Business Support team within Children’s Services. In this varied and rewarding role, you’ll help deliver an efficient, customer-focused administrative service—supporting colleagues by managing communications, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring key processes run smoothly. Working closely with internal teams and partners, you’ll play an important role in keeping information flowing, supporting day-to-day operations, and helping us provide a high-quality service to the children, young people and families we work with.

Site-Based role:

This is a Site-Based role, and you’ll be expected to work from the designated workplace. 09:00 - 15:00 - 6 working hours per day. Interviews for this role will be held on 12th August 2026.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to incoming communication such as phone calls, emails and post, making sure messages and information reach the right colleagues quickly.
  • Carry out a range of administrative tasks and support the team with work delegated by managers, ensuring everything is completed to a high standard.
  • Complete checks and references for prospective carers and record actions accurately on our systems.
  • Help retrieve and manage Children’s Services files and follow our information governance procedures.
  • Process purchase orders and invoices using our finance systems and help keep office supplies stocked.
  • Support Traded Services, help with tasks such as job adverts and provide reception cover when needed.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Has a level two qualification in Business Administration or equivalent experience, including fast and accurate word processing skills.
  • Can use Microsoft Office confidently and input data accurately.
  • Communicates clearly with different audiences, both verbally and in writing.
  • Can organise their workload, meet deadlines and keep track of several tasks at once.
  • Can handle sensitive and confidential information and build positive working relationships.

As part of the pre-employment checks, should you be offered the role, we’ll carry out an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, unless you are currently registered with the DBS Update Service.
