Property Director in Milton Keynes

Salary: £80,000 to £85,000 depending on experience

Contract: Full-time, Permanent

At MK Community Foundation, we believe in creating stronger communities and greater opportunities across Milton Keynes. Our diverse property portfolio plays a vital role in generating sustainable income that enables us to invest in local people, organisations, and projects.

We have a portfolio of mixed-use property including offices, industrial, retail and leisure sites. We also have several developed and undeveloped land sites within Milton Keynes.

We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Property Director to join our senior leadership team. This is a unique opportunity for a strategic property professional to lead and develop a significant property portfolio while contributing directly to our charitable mission and community impact.

The Role

Reporting to the Chief Executive, you will provide strategic leadership and operational oversight of the Foundation's property portfolio, ensuring assets are optimised, financially sustainable, compliant, and aligned with organisational objectives.

You will drive portfolio performance, maximise asset value and income, oversee capital projects, strengthen tenant relationships, and identify opportunities for growth and development. As a member of the Leadership Team, you will help shape the future direction of the Foundation and its property strategy.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the strategic and operational management of a diverse property portfolio.

Identify opportunities for portfolio growth, acquisition, disposal, and optimisation.

Develop and deliver property strategies that maximise asset value, income generation, and long-term performance.

Operations and compliance:

Oversee leasing, tenancy management, occupancy levels, and tenant satisfaction.

Drive maintenance, refurbishment, and capital improvement.

• Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and service charge management across the portfolio.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant property, health and safety, and regulatory requirements.

People and relationships:

Manage external consultants, contractors, agents, and professional advisers.

Build strong relationships with tenants, community partners, stakeholders, regulators, and local authorities.

Lead, motivate, and develop property and facilities teams to deliver exceptional services.

Represent the Foundation at external events and forums, building partnerships with local organisations and businesses

About You

We are looking for a strategic leader with substantial senior-level property experience and a proven track record of delivering results.

You will have:

• Significant experience managing complex property portfolios.
• Strong knowledge of property legislation, compliance, governance, and health and safety requirements.
• Experience in asset management, capital projects, maintenance programmes, and income generation.
• Strong commercial and financial acumen, including budget management, forecasting, and business case development.
• Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills.
• Experience leading teams, contractors, consultants, and managing agents.
• A collaborative and customer-focused approach, with the ability to balance commercial outcomes with community benefit.
• The flexibility to travel regularly between sites across Milton Keynes.
• MRICS status or an equivalent professional property qualification.
• Experience within the charitable, voluntary, community, or not-for-profit sector.
• Understanding of how property assets can support wider community and social impact objectives.
