A great opportunity to join our Youth Justice Team as Support and Information Officer, providing administrative support and data collection to assist in the smooth running of the service. The Youth Justice Service works closely with young people and their families to reduce anti-social behaviour and prevent youth crime. We assist victims of crime and, where appropriate, include them in the youth justice process and restorative justice programmes. You\’ll need to be able to handle a range of administrative duties including data entry, dealing with requests, checking finances, arranging and taking minutes at meetings, and maintaining accurate records to ensure we\’re meeting our performance targets.

Responsibilities

  • Plan panels, manage diaries, book venues, and ensure timely, accurate data input aligned with Youth Justice legislation.
  • Record complex minutes and manage timely submission of reports.
  • Design and produce performance reports using the information management system to support internal and external stakeholders.
  • Process purchase orders, invoices, and petty cash in line with council finance procedures.
  • Handle sensitive data securely across systems, ensuring confidentiality, safeguarding and statutory compliance.
  • Train colleagues on systems, manage updates, and coordinate the Appropriate Adult Scheme including volunteer support and rota management.

Qualifications

  • You\’ll ideally have experience of providing comprehensive administrative support to a team, including taking minutes, as well as all-round knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • You’ll be able to work well on your own and as part of a team, supporting colleagues during absences and unusually high volumes of work.
  • You’ll have an NVQ level 3 in Business Administration or equivalent, or be able to demonstrate significant administrative experience and have knowledge of Youth Justice legislation and application to data reporting requirements as specified by the Youth Justice Board.
  • Qualities we are looking for in candidates include excellent organisational skills, ability to prioritise and proactively manage your workload whilst responding to urgent requests and deadlines. Having pride in your work, strong IT and administrative skills, and an aptitude for learning are integral to this role.
  • As part of the pre‑employment checks, a basic DBS will be actioned for you.
