We’re recruiting a dedicated Social Worker to join our Parenting Assessment Wellbeing Team (PAWT) at Milton Keynes City Council. You’ll work with children, young people and families to make sure they get the right help at the right time. Our colleagues support families across the city, focusing on safety, wellbeing and long‑term positive change. You’ll work closely with families in the community, as well as colleagues across our Children’s Services Directorate, which is one of the eight key service areas in our well‑organised council structure. This is a rewarding role where you’ll make a real difference every day.
This is a site‑based role.
Responsibility
- Complete specialised parenting assessments, using the Parent Assess framework.
- Carry out clear, child centred assessments to understand the needs of children and families.
- Create and review plans that help families make positive changes.
- Manage a varied caseload and take action when children need to be protected.
- Work with other professionals to provide joined up support.
- Keep accurate and up to date records.
- Prepare reports and take part in meetings when required.
The Ideal Candidate
- Hold a recognised social work qualification and registration with Social Work England.
- Be trained in Parent Assess and have proven experience in completing these assessments.
- Have experience and expertise in working with parents who have significant learning needs, mental health challenges, and complex circumstances.
- The ability to write clear reports and use electronic recording systems.
- Strong communication skills with the confidence to work with families, colleagues and partners.
- Good judgement and the ability to make decisions in fast‑paced situations.
- Resilience, adaptability and a calm approach under pressure.
- A driving licence and access to a vehicle for community‑based work.

To be successful in this role, you’ll need a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
