Overview

We\’re seeking a dedicated and experienced EHC Quality Practice Lead (Senior Teacher) to join our Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) service. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a real difference for children and young people in Milton Keynes.

Responsibilities

  • Work in partnership with the Assessment/EHCP Strategic Lead and SEND Partnership to ensure EHCPs are high quality and person‑centred.
  • Deliver training and coaching to education colleagues across schools, settings and post‑16 providers to improve EHCP standards.
  • Supervise the EHC Quality Practice Practitioner and support team development through CPD.
  • Lead audits, data analysis and reporting to drive continuous improvement.
  • Act as lead for complaints, mediation and dispute resolution, and represent the Council as an expert witness in SEND tribunals.
  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of legislation and policy, and deputise for the Strategic Lead when required.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A relevant teaching or postgraduate qualification and at least three years senior leadership experience in education or local government.
  • Strong knowledge of SEND principles, legislation and best practice.
  • Leadership skills with the ability to inspire, challenge and empower others.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, including the ability to coach and influence.
  • Resilience and flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work across a range of environments.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including occasional out‑of‑hours and holiday cover.

To be successful you will need a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. Proof of licence and vehicle insurance, including business use cover, will be required. The role requires an Enhanced DBS check (unless already registered with the DBS Update Service).
