We’re recruiting an Area Housing Manager to join Milton Keynes City Council and help us deliver secure, well‑managed homes for our residents. You’ll work within Adult Services - Housing Operations, in a service that plays a vital role in supporting some of the most vulnerable people in Milton Keynes. The Housing Operations team manages tenancy services, estate management, home ownership and social housing allocations. Our work promotes sustainable tenancies, well‑maintained homes, effective management of anti‑social behaviour and high‑quality customer service.
This is a rewarding leadership role where your work will directly help people to feel safe, supported and secure in their homes. You’ll manage and support a team of housing professionals, ensuring services meet regulatory standards and deliver positive outcomes for residents. We are dedicated, respectful and collaborative, and we expect our colleagues to live these values every day. This is a Site-Based role, and you’ll be expected to work from the designated workplace.

Responsibilities
- Lead, motivate and support a team of housing professionals to deliver high‑quality tenancy and neighbourhood services.
- Manage complex tenancy, housing and social issues, ensuring residents receive timely and effective support.
- Oversee performance, compliance and service improvement in line with housing legislation and regulatory standards.
- Work closely with colleagues across Housing Operations, Adult Services and partner agencies to deliver joined‑up solutions.
- Handle complaints and complex cases, using learning to improve services and outcomes for residents.
- Deputise for the Housing Operations Manager when required and represent the service at internal and external forums.
The Ideal Candidate
- Strong experience in housing management with a detailed understanding of housing law and regulatory requirements.
- A qualification at CIH Level four or equivalent knowledge gained through experience.
- Proven ability to lead, support and develop teams in a fast‑paced environment.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, with confidence handling complex and sensitive situations.
- A collaborative approach that reflects our values of being dedicated, respectful and working together.
- Ability to travel across the city, with a full and valid UK driving licence.
To be successful in this role, you’ll need a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle. If we offer you the role, we’ll ask you to provide evidence of your driving licence and vehicle insurance, including cover for business use. We’re unable to confirm an appointment until these documents are received.
