Mechanical Design Engineer in Knutsford

Mechanical / Mechatronics Design Engineer Up to £60,000 DOE Take ownership of your designs from concept through to production. Want to see the machinery you design being built, tested and used in the real world? MILO Recruit is working with an established specialist machinery manufacturer looking for a Mechanical / Mechatronics Design Engineer to develop practical, durable equipment for demanding operating environments. This role offers involvement across the complete design process. You will take projects from initial sketches and 3D models through prototyping, testing, validation and commercial production, seeing the direct impact of your engineering decisions. The opportunity You will design robust mechanical systems and contribute to the integration of hydraulic, electrical and automated technologies. Your work will help improve machine performance, productivity and reliability while reducing manual labour requirements. Alongside developing new machinery, you will support improvements to existing products, balancing performance with manufacturability and practical use. What you will be doing • Designing and developing machinery from initial concept through to production • Producing 3D models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks • Designing machined components, fabrications and mechanical assemblies • Supporting the integration of hydraulic systems, motors, actuators, sensors and controls • Contributing to prototype builds, testing and design validation • Developing existing products to improve reliability, performance and ease of manufacture What we are looking for You will bring practical mechanical design capability and an understanding of how machinery is manufactured, assembled and used. The following experience would be beneficial: • Around three years or more in machinery or mechatronic system design • Strong 3D CAD skills using SolidWorks • Experience designing machined components and fabrications • A good understanding of tolerances and manufacturing processes • Experience integrating mechanical systems with electrical components, hydraulics, sensors or controls • A qualification in Mechanical or Mechatronics Engineering, or equivalent industry experience • The ability to work independently and contribute within a team Previous construction heavy machinery or commercial vehical machinery experience would be useful, although relevant experience designing other machinery is also welcomed.
