Milns Road School, opening January 2027 in Halswell, will be a vibrant Y1ā8 full primary school with reo rua (bilingual) provision. We are seeking two deputy principals to support our tumuaki, shaping a thriving bilingual learning community. This is not your usual DP role - you will initially support the establishment process, with your role evolving as the school becomes established.
We aspire to build a kura grounded in Te Tiriti o Waitangi, where te reo MÄori is celebrated, normalised, and embedded across teaching and learning. Our deputy principals will support our tumuaki in championing bilingual, culturally sustaining education that uplifts identity, hauora, and achievement for all Äkonga. Our kura will be a place where people gather, belong, and grow together.
We seek two Deputy Principals who will support our Tumuaki in building strong, enduring relationships with whÄnau, iwi, kaiako, and our diverse community. You will amplify the voices of Äkonga and staff, fostering collaboration, trust, and bravery throughout the establishment phase.
We are looking for deputy principals who will:
- Support our tumuaki in building our future teaching and learning teams
- Support our tumuaki and board in setting the future strategic direction of our kura, implementing school policies, and leading on specific initiatives as they evolve
- Lead the development of curriculum and assessment
- Ensure culturally responsive practices are embedded in our kura, using Te Tiriti o Waitangi as the foundation.
