We are recruiting for a new member of our team who is passionate about books, reads widely, has high standards when it comes to customer service and is comfortable working solo in the bookshop or as part of an enthusiastic team at book events.

What are we looking for?

  • A passion for books and an ability to provide appropriate book recommendations to customers of all different ages and backgrounds.
  • A natural ability to connect with customers to understand their needs and consistently provide an excellent standard of customer service.
  • Work independently and pro-actively in the day-to-day running of the bookshop, including careful arranging of books, attention to detail in customer ordering and till processes and ensuring the bookshop maintains a high level of cleanliness.
  • Work enthusiastically as a part of a small events team at author events, festivals and other book-related events.
  • Flexibility to work at least 20 hours per week and opportunity for additional hours – days and times negotiable but must include Sundays.
  • Good command of English (speaking, reading and writing).
  • Full UK Driving License (as some events will require travel by car with stock).
  • PVG desirable, as school and children's events are an important part of Daydream's events schedule.
  • Prior bookselling experience desirable (however, full training will be provided).
