We are currently looking for an experienced
Geotechnical Director to join and expand our team at Millward.

Our pipeline is packed with exciting projects across a diverse range of sectors, including MOD, industrial, commercial and public sector developments.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced geotechnical professional to take a senior leadership role, help shape and grow our geotechnical offering, and work alongside our wider engineering team on a varied portfolio of technically challenging projects.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng, P. E., P. Eng. or equivalent) desirable.
- 10–15+ years of progressive experience in geotechnical engineering, including senior or leadership roles.
- Proven experience delivering large-scale infrastructure and/or complex geotechnical projects.
- Strong understanding of soil and rock mechanics, ground investigation techniques, numerical modelling and relevant design standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to provide high-level technical oversight and make sound, informed engineering decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership across geotechnical engineering services, including site investigation, ground modelling, foundation design, slope stability, retaining structures and geohazard assessments.
- Lead, mentor and grow a multidisciplinary team of geotechnical engineers and technicians.
- Oversee geotechnical input across major infrastructure, commercial, industrial and environmental projects.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to grow Millward’s geotechnical service offering.
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, quality systems and health and safety requirements.
- Review and approve technical reports, design deliverables and risk assessments.
- Manage project budgets, programmes and resources to support successful project delivery.
- Support business development through client engagement, proposal writing and participation in relevant industry events.
