Location: Well Hall Training Ground, Kidbrooke Lane, Eltham, SE9 6TE
Responsible to: Head of Academy Sports Science and Medicine
Hours of work: No fixed hours. Shifts arranged subject to availability, including Monday - Friday evening sessions (16:30-19:00) and weekend matchdays.
ATTENTION: Applicants must be willing to work at least 2 Sundays per month.
ROLE OVERVIEW
Millwall Football Club is looking to recruit committed, knowledgeable, self-motivated
Chartered Physiotherapists, Sports Therapists or Sports Rehabilitator to join the Academy Sports Science & Medicine department. The role of the Academy Therapist is fundamental to the long-term vision of Millwall Football Club.
The successful candidate will work within a Category 2 Academy and fulfil the requirements according to the EPPP system who will cover the physiotherapy and rehabilitation provision for all the academy players from the U9-U16 age groups and occasionally be involved with the full-time scholars.
The applicants must be prepared to work flexible hours, including midweek evening sessions and weekend games. That is an excellent opportunity for pro-active individuals, with a keen interest of working in football. You will need to be up to date with current literature, understand the scope of practice, and seek to develop your practical skills alongside with opportunities to attend internal CPD.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide emergency first aid cover – during trainings and matchday
- Clinical assessment of injured academy players U9s-U16s during training and matchdays.
- Keep detailed and accurate records of injuries and treatments and upload them on the Football Intelligence Platform.
- Constant communication with coaches, sports scientist and parents regarding players’ injury and availability.
- Liaise with full time academy medical members to update for player’s rehabilitation progress
- Attend and participate in in-house CPD sessions
- Promote the safeguarding and welfare of children within the academy
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Physiotherapy, Sports Therapy or Sports Rehabilitator Degree
- Membership with relevant governing body. (CSP, BASRAT, SST)
- Basic Life Support or any first aid qualification is essential to apply for the vacancy
- Driving License
- Experience of working in professional sport with adolescent population
- Understanding of the EPPP requirements

- Flexible to cover away fixtures with long travels
- Experience of working in the sporting (football desirable) environment
