Academy Physiotherapist/Sports Therapists/Sport Rehabilitator (Casual)

Responsible to: Head of Academy Sports Science and Medicine

Hours of work: No fixed hours. Shifts arranged subject to availability, including Monday‑Thursday evening sessions (16:30–19:00) and weekend matchdays.

ATTENTION: Applicants must be willing to work at least 2 Sundays per month.

Responsibilities

  • Provide emergency first aid cover during training and matchday.
  • Conduct clinical assessment of youth‑injured players U9s‑U16s prior to games.
  • Keep detailed and accurate records of injuries and treatments and upload them on the Football Intelligence Platform.
  • Maintain constant communication with coaches, sports scientists and parents regarding players’ injury and availability.
  • Liaise with full‑time academy medical members to update player rehabilitation progress.
  • Attend and participate in in‑house CPD sessions.
  • Promote the safeguarding and welfare of children within the academy.

Millwall Football Club is looking to recruit committed, knowledgeable, self‑motivated individuals prepared to work flexible hours, including midweek evening sessions and weekend games. This is an excellent opportunity for proactive individuals with a keen interest in football, who are up to date with current literature, understand the scope of practice, and are eager to develop practical skills alongside opportunities to attend internal CPD.

Requirements

  • Chartered physiotherapist, sports therapy or sport rehabilitator degree.
  • Basic Life Support or any first‑aid qualification is essential.
  • Driving licence.
  • IT literacy skills.

Desirable Requirements

  • Valid safeguarding certification.
  • Experience of working in professional sport with an adolescent population.
  • Understanding of the EPPP requirements.
  • FA ATMMiF (Level 5), FA ITMMiF (Level 4) or equivalent first‑aid qualification.

  • Experience of working in a sporting (football desirable) environment.
  • Strong communication skills.
