Milltown Partners advises technology companies driving change, global investors funding the future, giants of sport and entertainment, and influential individuals on communications and policy challenges. Our work spans corporate and financial communications, policy and public affairs to engage regulators and policymakers, policy communications, and leadership communications. We underpin our capabilities with research-driven insights and campaigns, and we are pioneering AI-enhanced advisory work for our clients and internal innovation.
The role is mid-level – Consultant and Senior Consultant – and we welcome candidates across that range. Both roles are at the driving force of our client work. You'll be a trusted adviser to technology companies navigating complex regulatory and political landscapes across the UK and Europe, helping them understand their environment and develop credible strategies to shape it.
What you'll do:
- Shape technology policy: Work alongside client team leads to set strategic direction and define priorities for clients navigating complex regulatory and political landscapes. Translate technical and policy concepts into clear narratives for different audiences and design integrated plans to guide execution.
- Advise with strategic judgement: Provide recommendations directly to clients in writing, meetings, and high-pressure moments. Produce compelling briefing materials, submissions, speeches, and content for significant moments.
- Drive great work and develop the team: Manage junior colleagues day-to-day, set clear expectations, and create conditions for excellent work. Provide regular feedback and support their development.
- Build a collaborative environment: Give and receive feedback regularly, actively seek input from colleagues, and demonstrate allyship to everyone on the team.
What we're looking for:
- 3–7 years of communications experience, ideally in consultancy, government, a regulator or a policy team at a technology company.
- Strong understanding of key UK technology policy issues, including AI, online safety, data privacy, and competition.
- Demonstrable ability to translate complex policy and technical topics into clear narratives for non-specialist audiences.
- Experience advising or engaging with large technology companies or major policy stakeholders.
- Project management experience – planning and delivering work against agreed goals, timelines, and budgets.
- Experience managing a team and delegating work effectively.
- Intellectual curiosity to develop subject matter expertise in new topics.
- Collaborative instincts and a commitment to contributing to an inclusive culture.
Desirable:
- Experience working across both UK and EU policy landscapes.
- Existing relationships within technology, policy, or regulatory communities.
- Experience working on integrated campaigns designed to shift policy environments or change perceptions.
Why join us: We are an independent, employee-owned firm, sharing in our collective success. Our culture is built on five values: brilliance, restlessness, comradeship, inclusivity, and integrity. We invest in each other through honest feedback, shared learning, and genuine care. You'll have access to competitive pay, professional development opportunities, private healthcare, mental health support, 26 days holiday plus public holidays, and a hybrid working model.
Salary bands: Consultant £46,000–£54,000 | Senior Consultant £58,000–£69,000. We are serious about building a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workplace.
If this sounds like the right place to progress your career, we'd love to hear from you.
