The role requires a Director with deep technology policy expertise to join our London team. This is a senior role for someone with at least 10 years of experience advising on the policy and political challenges facing global technology companies. Directors at Milltown are responsible for the quality of everything we produce, setting strategy, agreeing fees, designing teams, and ensuring we consistently exceed client expectations.
What you’ll do:
- Lead client work: Provide strategic advice to technology clients navigating complex policy and regulatory environments, combining a deep understanding of issues including AI, online safety, data, and competition with insight into UK political dynamics.
- Run brilliant teams: Set clear priorities, hold yourself and your teams accountable, and coach individuals to develop and perform at their best.
- Drive innovation and growth: Ensure research and insight underpin everything we produce, seek external expertise, and advocate for AI-enhanced advisory work.
- Shape our culture: Give and receive regular feedback, demonstrate allyship, actively seek input from others, and support the wellbeing of everyone on the team.
What we’re looking for:
- At least 10 years of advisory experience on technology policy issues.
- Deep understanding of key UK technology policy issues, including AI, online safety, data privacy, and competition.
- Experience advising or engaging with large global technology companies.
- Established relationships with a range of policy stakeholders.
- Proven ability to communicate complex policy and technical topics to non-specialist audiences.
- Experience managing high-performing teams and developing others through coaching and feedback.
- Experience leading new business conversations and competitive pitches.
- Strong grasp of AI tools and their application in advisory work.
- Intellectual curiosity to develop expertise in new areas.
- Excellent command of written and verbal English.
Desirable:
- Experience advising clients across both UK and EU policy landscapes.
- Existing network within technology, policy, or regulatory communities in London or Brussels.
- Experience working within a scaling advisory or consultancy environment.
