We are seeking a motivated Principal Technician with hands-on experience in AutoCAD and a solid understanding of civil engineering concepts. Your responsibilities as the Principal Technician include:
- Work in a design office, with regular exposure to developers, architects, and local authorities
- Be responsible and accountable for CAD and drafting related processes, identifying improvements to existing processes and creating new ones
- Assist engineers with the design of drainage systems, infrastructure layouts, and S278/S38 schemes
- Collaborate with design teams to develop concepts into workable, constructible drawings
- Review and revise drawings based on stakeholder feedback and field changes
- Maintain drawing records, version control, and project folders
- Support QA/QC processes, perform checks for clarity, accuracy, and consistency
- Contribute to continuous improvement of drafting standards and workflows
To succeed in this role we are looking for Principal Technicians with the following:
- Proven experience as a CAD Technician with a focus on civil engineering projects
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD - experience with Site3D is a plus
- Solid understanding of civil/structural engineering fundamentals and construction practices
- Attention to detail, accuracy, and a methodical approach to drafting
- Good communication and teamwork skills; ability to work with engineers, designers, and field teams
