Are you a General Practitioner looking for a new role? We are a friendly, resilient practice looking to welcome an enthusiastic and committed GP to our fantastic team. Our mission statement is to be committed to providing high quality, patient centred care using a multi-disciplinary team approach, with patient and staff well-being at the heart of our Sarum Health Group family.

Our multi-disciplinary team consists of two GP Partners, Advanced Clinical Practitioner Partner and Pharmacist Partner. They are all supported by Advanced Clinical Practitioners who lead on acute same day care, alongside the Home Visiting Team and First Contact Physio, Pharmacists, Practice Nurses and HCAs. We also have Social Prescribers who work as PCN staff dealing with the Mental Health of our patients. Our administration team handle all incoming letters, assist in sending clinical letters, referrals, invites and all non-NHS work, along with our reception team who handle all incoming calls and booking of appointments. We here at Sarum Health Group work as a well-oiled unit meaning the work is carried out in an effective and efficient manner.

Main duties of the job

As a General Practitioner working within our GP surgeries, you will be a key member of our clinical team, delivering safe, effective and high-quality primary care services to our registered population. Your responsibilities will include:

The successful General Practitioner will have support from in-house team for prescription queries, document management, triage and will work as an autonomous practitioner, diagnosing, managing, prescribing and discharging patients with illness or injury across all age groups including young children. This may be by a mix of face-to-face consultation, telephone or video consultation.

16,201 patient practice in rural Wiltshire and Dorset; Main surgery at Salisbury with branch surgeries at Larkhill, Sixpenny Handley and Broad Chalke; CQC rating Good; High QOF achievers due to our efficient admin support team; Home Visiting team meaning limited GP cover; Part of the Salisbury Plain PCN with expanding team which includes for our practice Paramedic (Home Visiting Team), Clinical Pharmacist, Social Prescribers, First Contact Physiotherapist and a GPA; Workflow optimisation for data team, reduced admin for GPs; On-site dispensary located in at our branch site in Larkhill; SystmOne Web clinical system, also using Cinapsis, AccuRX, SystmConnect, T-Quest and TeamNet; Full complement administration team who oversee letter processing, insurance reports, solicitor reports and all other non-NHS works, safeguarding reports and referrals; Face-to-face and telephone triage systems available to patients all day overseen by our Advanced Clinical Practitioners; Enhanced hours as part of our PCN network of practices; 30 intermediate care beds which we provide a weekly on-site clinic with limited number of patients; Nurse-led chronic disease clinics; Comprehensive clinical pathways that are ever evolving; Starting salary £12k increasing to £12.5k after 6-month probation period.

Job responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities: The following are the core responsibilities of the Salaried GP. There may be, on occasion, a requirement to carry out other tasks; this will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

  • The delivery of highly effective medical care to the entitled population
  • The provision of services commensurate with the GMS contract
  • Generic prescribing adhering to local and national guidance
  • Effective management of long-term conditions
  • Processing of administration in a timely manner, including referrals, repeat prescription requests and other associated administrative tasks
  • On a rotational basis, undertake telephone triage and duty doctor roles
  • Maintain accurate clinical records in conjunction with good practice, policy and guidance
  • Work collaboratively, accepting an equal share of the practice workload
  • Adhere to best practice recommended through clinical guidelines and the audit process
  • Contribute to the successful implementation of continuous improvement and quality initiatives within the practice
  • Accept delegated responsibility for a specific area (or areas) or the QOF
  • Attend and contribute effectively to practice meetings as required
  • Contribute effectively to the development and maintenance of the practice including clinical governance and training
  • Ensure compliance with the appraisal process
  • Prepare and complete the revalidation process
  • Commit to self-learning and instil an ethos of continuing professional development across the practice team
  • Support the training of medical students from all clinical disciplines
  • Support the partners in achieving the strategic aims of the practice, making recommendations to enhance income and reduce expenditure
  • Review and always adhere to practice protocols and policies
  • Encourage collaborative working, liaising with all staff regularly, always promoting a culture of continuous improvement.

Person Specification

Experience

  • Experience working in General Practice/Primary Care setting
  • Experience of working to achieve standards within the Quality and Outcome Framework (QoF)
  • Working autonomously in a General Practitioner role

Qualifications

  • GMC registered with a license to practise
  • On the NHS England Performers List
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and patient care skills
  • Enthusiastic, collaborative and keen to contribute to a positive team culture
