The role is responsible for the successful planning and execution of a diverse portfolio of events across the firm, including large scale, complex and high profile programmes. This includes advising teams on how to ensure their events achieve their business development goals, working within best practice guidelines and using your judgement and experience to manage competing priorities and stakeholder expectations. Success in this role requires working with a wide range of people across the Marketing team, the firm more widely and external suppliers. You will act as a trusted adviser to internal clients, helping shape event approaches and ensuring consistent application of best practice. IT systems are central to our events processes, and you will be expected to use these effectively to support delivery, reporting and continuous improvement. You will be part of the events team, who work closely together and support each other.
The person should have significant experience delivering a wide range of events, including large scale and complex programmes, preferably within a legal or professional services environment. The ability to work independently, managing your own workload and priorities with minimal supervision is essential. Strong stakeholder management skills, with confidence working with senior colleagues, and proven ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities are required. Strong commercial awareness and experience of managing event budgets, excellent IT skills across office software, event platforms, CRM systems and digital tools, as well as excellent organisation and attention to detail are necessary. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex matters clearly, strong people skills and a collaborative approach are also important.
The role additionally requires flexibility for early starts and late finishes when events are planned, being self-managed and confident in setting and prioritising your own work agenda, and the confidence to build strong, credible relationships with clients, lawyers and internal colleagues. A proactive, solutions focused approach with sound judgement and decision making, a structured, methodical way of working with consistent attention to detail, willingness to support, mentor and share knowledge across the team, and openness to taking on new responsibilities and contributing to continuous improvement are also needed.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
- Planning and delivering a successful portfolio of marketing events across face to face and virtual formats, including large scale, complex and high profile programmes.
- Taking full ownership of event delivery from brief through to evaluation, including timelines, logistics, budget management and stakeholder coordination.
- Communication with internal and external contacts to ensure expectations are aligned with delivery, including acting as the primary point of contact for senior stakeholders.
- Keeping internal clients informed of progress, expectations and their responsibilities.
- Producing detailed event plans, including timelines, venues or rooms, suppliers and budgets, and managing multiple concurrent projects to a high standard.
- Leading complex events involving multiple workstreams, suppliers and senior stakeholders.
- Booking internal rooms or external venues and arranging catering and facilities for in person and hybrid events.
- Working closely with Comms, Tech and IT to ensure effective and high quality delivery of in person and digital events.
- Managing invitation processes, monitoring responses and supporting marketing activity including social media where appropriate.
- Training and guiding lawyers through virtual and in-person event delivery.
- Identifying risks, resolving issues proactively and escalating where appropriate.
- Managing event budgets with accountability and a strong level of commercial awareness.
- Ensuring the firm's CRM system is utilised throughout the event process to capture client data accurately.
- Managing and reporting on event feedback and return on investment, ensuring learnings are captured and shared.
- Attending and leading delivery at events to ensure a seamless, high quality client experience.
- Supporting the development of junior team members, including mentoring and sharing knowledge.
- Identifying and implementing improvements to processes, systems and ways of working.
