Mills & Reeve is hiring an experienced Commercial Solicitor with a strong background in Technology and Data Protection to join their growing national team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead complex IT and data protection matters, supervise associates, and drive business development initiatives.
Location: Birmingham, Cambridge, Leeds, Manchester, Norwich, or Oxford office.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and advise on data protection queries.
- Advise on legal issues relating to developing technologies, including AI.
- Advise on technology licensing arrangements.
- Supervise associates on commercial contract drafting, data protection documentation, and due diligence on IT and commercial risks and data protection compliance.
- Deliver training to clients on IT and data protection.
- Assist with IT contracts and data protection matters for Mills & Reeve itself.
Qualifications:
- 6+ years post-licence experience in a large regional, national or international firm.
- Excellent technical skills in contract law and data protection law.
- Commercially minded lawyer ready to handle diverse work and new legal developments.
- Strong relationship building, negotiating, research, and interpersonal skills.
