The role

We're looking for a talented Data Analyst to join our Data Team within the wider Legal Tech & Data department.

Reporting to the Data Team Leader, you'll work closely with colleagues across the firm to understand business needs and transform data into meaningful insights, developing innovative business intelligence solutions using Microsoft technologies such as SQL Server, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI and Excel.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in helping the firm make data-driven decisions, delivering impactful reporting and analytics that support teams across Mills & Reeve.

  • The person
  • Strong technical expertise across the Microsoft BI technology stack, including SQL Server, SQL Server Analysis Services (SSAS), SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS), Microsoft Fabric and Excel.
  • Proven experience in Power BI report development, with a solid understanding of relational databases, data modelling and business intelligence best practices.
  • Commercially aware with strong financial and accounting knowledge, alongside an understanding of the legal sector and its reporting requirements.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build relationships and manage expectations at all levels.
  • Proactive and adaptable problem‑solver, able to work independently, prioritise effectively and deliver high‑quality outcomes to deadlines.
  • Collaborative and innovative team player with a positive attitude, strong learning agility and a commitment to continuous improvement.
  • The activities
  • Support stakeholders across the firm to understand reporting and information requirements, translating business needs into effective data and BI solutions.
  • Design, develop and maintain data warehouse and business intelligence solutions, including Power BI reporting and analytics.
  • Support the firm's migration from a SQL Data Warehouse to a Microsoft Fabric Data Lakehouse, helping to shape our evolving data platform.
  • Create, maintain and enhance a range of reporting solutions, including dashboards, ad hoc analysis and finance‑focused data models.
  • Promote and support the adoption of Power BI across the business, enabling greater self‑service reporting and data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Take an active role in personal and professional development, continuously building technical expertise and business knowledge through training and on‑the‑job learning.
