Are you an experienced Bid Manager looking for a new role in a growing national law firm? Our Bid team is hiring and we would love to hear from you!
The role encompasses both managing the bid process and drafting the material, so skills in both areas are essential. You will be responsible for producing tenders across the firm, ensuring bid best practice, and providing practical support on all aspects of the bid process. Within this specialist role, you will project manage the bid process, use the firm’s bid-automated system to create and produce content, and support the legal team through presentation and debrief.
The role also involves strategic input to improve the bidding process and manage projects that drive best practice. We expect someone with significant bidding experience, preferably in a professional-services environment. You must have managed the bid process, implemented winning strategies, liaised confidently with internal stakeholders, and advised them through private and public sector bids.
Strong writing, proofreading/editing skills, keen attention to detail, good IT knowledge, tender-portal skills, proven project-management and communication skills are required. The successful candidate will be a proactive self-starter motivated to contribute strategically and operationally.
As a member of the bid team, you will work across the entire sector range covered by the firm, producing business-winning tenders. You will interpret requirements, advise legal teams on approach, and coach and mentor them for presentations and pitches to clients. A key part of your role will be to help develop other team members and contribute to continuous improvement of systems and tender best practice.
Your background should include bid experience, preferably in a legal or professional-services environment.
The role additionally requires someone who has:
- Ideally a marketing qualification from the Chartered Institute of Marketing
- Commercial acumen: understanding of our business and client prospects, target businesses, and their industries
- Client focus and development of relevant “sales” messages
- Project management experience
- Proactive, motivated, strategic- and operational-level contribution
- Ability to work under pressure while keeping a sense of humour and balancing a demanding workload
- Delegation and communication skills
- Ability to draft compelling plain-English copy and conduct research and analysis
- Ability to influence and persuade key stakeholders and confidence to talk to clients
You will manage your own workload while drawing on support and guidance from others. You will join the established team of 8 bid specialists in the marketing team to manage bid activity and maintain a high win rate. The team is led by a Head of Bids who champions growth and development. Additional support comes from a Senior Bid Manager, Bid Manager, Bid Adviser and administration staff. You may also collaborate with the Head of Client Care, Head of Business Development, partners, lawyers and other business support specialists during the tender process.
