Join our finance team, supporting regulatory excellence in a top 50 law firm, part‑time.
A permanent role, part‑time 0.5 FTE. Reporting to the firm's Solicitor Accounts Rule Assistant Manager, this newly created position provides senior assistant support to ensure compliance with the Solicitor Regulation Authority Accounts Rules (“SRA AR”) and related regulatory, internal, and procedural requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Assist in monitoring the firm’s compliance with SRA AR rules and internal procedures.
- Detect and investigate potential SRA AR breaches, determining if they are reportable or recordable.
- Act as a point of contact for lawyers and admin support.
- Maintain and update the firm’s breaches register and compliance reports.
- Generate and compile monthly and ad hoc compliance reports.
- Investigate reports and review data to identify residual balances, dormant matters, client own account SRA AR issues, or other compliance concerns.
- Assist in reducing dormant matters, residual balances, client own accounts, designated deposit accounts, interest, and related compliance focus areas.
- Help manage balances that require donation to charity.
- Complete administrative tasks to keep balance notes up to date, accurate and clear.
- Participate in the annual SRA AR audit and file reviews with the Finance Team to assess firm-wide compliance and follow up on noncompliance.
- Report to and liaise with the SRA Compliance Assistant Manager, Finance Operations Manager, Head of Procurement & Finance Operations, and COFA as required.
- Assist with preparation of forms and reports.
- Support SRA compliance for the National Suitability List (NSLs).
- Stay current with legal and regulatory changes, including SRA AR rules.
- Conduct ad hoc research in all areas of SRA AR rules.
- Education equivalent to A-level / degree with strong results in English and Maths.
- Proficient with MS Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.
- Professional experience in a firm, preferably involving law, regulation, and professional standards.
- Comfortable working with Practice Management Systems such as 3E or equivalent.
- Experience with case management and database systems such as iManage, MatterSphere, I4G Innovation Solutions or equivalent.
- Confident interacting with senior management and partners.
- Cooperative and collaborative with other business support teams.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a client‑oriented approach that encourages cooperation and resolution.
- Resilience and composure in all situations.
- Professional approach with excellent communication skills and discretion.
- Proven ability to influence and drive change successfully across business roles and profiles.
