The role involves working on a broad range of contentious and non-contentious matters, advising commercial clients (including life sciences and technology businesses), higher education institutions, the health sector and charities. Full training and support will be provided, particularly in relation to health, education and charity sector work. The role offers close collaboration with solicitors Anna Fisken, Sophie Corke and Polly Smith, alongside Partner William Downing, Head of the Employment team and Oxford Office. You will also be part of a nationally recognised team of 16 partners and over 80 solicitors across seven offices. Mills & Reeve's Oxford office is rapidly expanding and offers a unique opportunity to join a high-growth team with a start-up feel, backed by the resources and expertise of a leading national firm. With employment law at the forefront of legal and commercial change, this is an exciting time to build your career in a dynamic and forward-looking practice. You will be expected to contribute to Mills & Reeve's strategic priorities, including delivering exceptional client service and embracing innovation and technology.
The person should be self-motivated and proactive, with strong common sense, initiative and the ability to work collaboratively on complex matters. Highly organised and methodical, with excellent time management, documentation skills and keen attention to detail. A strong relationship-builder, able to develop effective connections with clients, prospective clients and internal colleagues. A confident researcher, with the ability to use online information sources effectively. Desirable experience includes supporting employment law aspects of corporate transactions, including drafting contracts, settlement agreements and due diligence, and a willingness to take on new responsibilities and challenges.
