Our Private Client team is looking for a Trust Administrator to join our national group, based in either our Manchester or Birmingham office.
The role
We are looking for a Trust Administrator to join Mills & Reeve. The work undertaken in Private Client National Service Line involves will drafting, estate planning, complex tax planning, trusts and estate administration, preparation of lasting powers of attorney, charity advice and administration on behalf of a range of private clients, trustees and charities. We act for wealthy families and individuals, business people and landowners.
The person
Experience of trust work will be advantageous, but we will consider applications from those seeking a new challenge and an opportunity to progress their career. Likewise experience of preparing basic accounts or a knowledge of double-entry book-keeping would be an advantage. Being STEP qualified or working towards qualification would be an advantage but not essential.
- Strong IT keyboard skills along with good written English.
- A strong grasp of numbers and experience working with and manipulating data in Excel or similar.
- Ability to build strong working relationships with a range of people.
- A clear and sympathetic telephone manner.
- Ability to work productively under pressure and meet deadlines and able to prioritise work effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail and team working skills.
- Keen, enthusiastic and willing to take on challenges.
The activities
This role will be a mixture of trust related administrative fee earning work. Specifics of these are shown below:
- Management and administration of trusts to include inputting data into the firm\’s standard trust accounting tools and preparation of all related accounting records and HMRC returns
- Corresponding with banks, investment managers and others regarding funds and investments held on behalf of clients
- Corresponding with various parties regarding the administration of assets held within a trust, involving liaising between parties to obtain instructions and forwarding these on as appropriate
- Making payments to beneficiaries
- Responsibility for running files under supervision
