Millington Road Nursery School (MRNS), Cambridge
Reports to: The Trustees and Directors of MRNS
Full-time Hours - 8 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Monday to Friday during Term times (roughly in line with local State School Terms) plus some ad hoc hours as required during school holidays. Evening meetings required on occasion (usually once a term).
Place of Work - Millington Road Nursery School, Newnham, Cambridge although there is the ability to work from home for one afternoon a week if desired.
Salary Guide: in the region of £45,000 to £50,000 depending on experience

An exciting and rare opportunity has arisen to head up an experienced and highly qualified team of nursery practitioners and administrative staff at Millington Road Nursery School based in Cambridge. The Nursery was established over 50 years ago and attracts children from all over the world. Embedded into its ethos is the desire for children to learn about caring for the environment with a strong emphasis on providing activities which encourage independent play in its beautiful leafy outdoor classroom and garden. The Nursery, at maximum capacity, can cater for 45 children between the ages of 2 and 5 and is based in Newnham.
The role of Principal is a wide and varied one supported by a team of 8 very experienced and long-standing Early Years Practitioners and administrative support. As an independent small Charity-registered nursery, the Principal reports to the Board of Trustees who provide guidance on specialist matters and set the overarching strategy whilst allowing the Principal the autonomy to run the Nursery on a day-to-day basis within this framework.
The Nursery has currently and historically achieved Outstanding OFSTED ratings at inspection and this is reflected in its practice on a daily basis. The Principal is expected to maintain and improve on current practices so that the Nursery continues to provide the highest standards of care and Early Years’ education of the children in its setting. To do this, the Principal will need to be an exceptional Team leader able to motivate, support and develop the strong team that the Nursery already has in place.
