Millfield School is looking for a passionate and dedicated Groom to become a valuable member of our team. If you have a love for horses and a desire to excel in stable management and riding, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
Our impressive Equestrian Centre boasts spacious indoor and outdoor arenas, accommodating up to 40 horses. With six school horses and numerous student livery horses, you will care for your allocated horses and support the rest of the team in the routine work of the yard including riding and exercising the horses.
Working in a collaborative and supportive environment, you will enjoy being part of a small team dedicated to the welfare of the horses in our care and the well-being and education of our teenage students.
At Millfield School, we prioritise your professional development. As a Groom, you will immerse yourself in all aspects of stable management and actively participate in our groom development programme. We are proud to be a BHS approved centre, offering staff training to support qualifications within the BHS Excellence Pathway. By joining our team, you will gain invaluable experience and be encouraged to enhance your skills further.
This is an all-year-round position working an average of 48 hours per week. During term time you will work between the hours of 6.45am to 6.30pm, 5 days per week and during non-term time you will work between the hours of 7.30am to 5.30pm, 5 days per week, with a 1.5-hour lunch break.
Recognising your hard work and dedication, Millfield School offers a salary package that includes payment towards ongoing exam and assessment fees. The salary is £30,476.16 per annum and on-site accommodation is available in an ensuite room with shared lounge and kitchen at a rate of £120 per month (plus £120 deposit) which is inclusive of bills. Following completion of the 8-month probation period, there is also the option to keep your horse at Millfield (dependent on available space) for a cost of £173.33 per month.
