Millfield School is seeking an experienced and motivated Development Manager (Philanthropy & Engagement) to play a key role within our Development Office, supporting the school's strategic priorities through fundraising, community engagement and donor stewardship. This role will lead on the delivery of Millfield's Annual Appeal regular giving and legacy giving programmes, alongside the development of an integrated engagement and stewardship programme for alumni, parents and supporters. The successful candidate will work closely with senior colleagues across Development, Marketing, and the wider School to strengthen relationships, build long-term goodwill and demonstrate the impact of philanthropy across the Millfield community.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and growing Millfield's Annual Appeal regular giving and legacy giving programmes, driving participation and year-on-year growth
  • Managing a personal portfolio of mid-level donors and prospective donors
  • Developing compelling fundraising and impact communications across print, digital and email channels
  • Using data, insights and KPIs to inform fundraising and engagement strategy and improve donor journeys
  • Supporting the delivery of cultivation, fundraising and stewardship events in the UK and overseas
  • Developing and delivering community engagement programmes for alumni, parents and supporters across multiple different audiences and segments

Qualifications and Experience

You will bring experience of fundraising, community engagement and relationship management ideally within an education, charity or not-for-profit environment. You will be an excellent communicator, highly organised, and confident managing multiple projects and stakeholder relationships. A collaborative approach, attention to detail and a genuine commitment to community engagement and philanthropy are essential.

Additional Details

This is a year‑round role, working Monday to Friday, 8.30am‑5pm with some evening and weekend commitments to engage with donors and attend events. UK and occasional international travel will be required. The role offers a salary of £37,500‑£41,500 per annum depending on skills and experience, plus a wide range of staff benefits.
