Millers Vanguard are expanding our Reactive Engineer support team and seeking a knowledgeable and detail-focused Technical Advisor specialising in loading bay systems and associated equipment. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience of dock levellers, scissor lifts, loading bay lifts and ancillary safety components, looking to move into an office-based technical position. If you have worked with loading bay equipment in a supermarket, distribution centre or industrial environment, this is an excellent opportunity to apply your expertise in a stable, professional setting.
About the Role
You will be responsible for reviewing technical information from our field engineers and preparing clear, accurate condition reports for our major retail clients. These reports help customers understand the condition of their loading bay assets and make informed decisions regarding repair or replacement. This is a technical support role. Your focus will be on accuracy, clarity and professional communication. You will work closely with our in-house technical specialists and installations team to ensure customers receive the right information at the right time.
Key responsibilities as a Technical Advisor:
- Reviewing technical assessments from field engineers to identify assets that may be beyond economical repair
- Preparing structured condition reports for:
- Hydraulic dock levellers (swing-lip & telescopic-lip)
- Scissor lift tables
- Loading bay lifts
- Dock shelters & seals
- Buffer posts, dock bumpers & ancillary safety systems
- Liaising with our technical and installations teams to ensure accurate information is shared internally
- Communicating with customers where clarification or updates are required
What we’re looking for in a Technical Advisor:
- Experience working with loading bay equipment such as dock levellers, scissor lifts or loading bay lifts (essential)
- Knowledge of ancillary components including dock shelters, seals, buffer posts, bumpers and safety systems
- Basic Microsoft Excel capability
- Confidence communicating via email and phone
- A collaborative approach and willingness to work closely with multiple departments
This role is particularly suited to a former engineer who wants to apply their technical knowledge in an office-based environment.
