What you'll do
We have an exciting new opportunity for an Accounts Assistant to join our Finance team at AHJ- Miller.
The main purpose of this role is to support the finance function by ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions.
This position is also responsible for maintaining financial records, assisting with reconciliations, and providing administrative support to the finance team.
AHJ Miller offers tailored reinsurance solutions, leveraging expertise in treaty placement and facultative reinsurance, along with Miller's capital advisory and other specialty services.
Its coverage spans sectors such as property, casualty, marine, energy, accident and health, renewable energy, professional and financial risks, healthcare, cargo, sports, entertainment, and more.
- Role Responsibilities
- Purchase Ledger Functions
- Input of purchase invoices onto Sun Accounts
- Preparation and distribution connected with payments
- Filing of invoices
- Preparing debtor invoices and expenses to be reimbursed to clients
- Liaison with managers and brokers in respect of their expenses
- Responsible for incoming receipts on Sun
- Maintaining company expense system
- Distribution of Currency Trip funds
- Accounting Responsibilities
- Preparing monthly trial balances
- Distribution & processing of monthly credit card statements
- Postings to accruals, prepayments and fixed assets
- Cover for Brokerage reporting
- Cover for VAT returns
- Support with preparation of Budgets
- Cashflow reporting

- Treasury and Cashiering Functions
- Monitoring and control of all bank balances including detailed cash reconciliations
- Nat West Bankline system - reports and transfers
- Barclays systems for bank reports
- Bank reconciliations for all Accounts
- Foreign Currency Accounts
- Monitoring sterling and currency expense account ensuring it is adequately funded
- Roanoke cashiering function
- Transfer brokerage from client money to expense accounts Posting Deposits/Interest and Bank Charges to ledger
- IBA payments, checking and inputting
- Inland payments
- Session lists - unallocated cash receipts
- Administration with B4B
