Lead Linux Administrator – Join a well-established, profitable, and globally expanding institutional brokerage as a Lead Linux Administrator. With offices in four regions and over 500 employees worldwide, this firm is investing heavily in its infrastructure and is looking for a seasoned Linux expert to lead both technically and strategically.
This is a hands-on leadership role where you’ll not only manage and evolve critical Linux environments but also lead a growing team and drive key infrastructure projects across Europe.
Key Responsibilities for the Lead Linux Administrator:
- Lead and mentor a team of Linux engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Take ownership of high-impact infrastructure projects in 2025, including the design and build of new Linux environments.
- Remain hands-on with system administration, scripting, and troubleshooting in complex, time-sensitive environments.
- Champion the adoption of new technologies to automate and streamline operational tasks.
- Balance BAU support with strategic project delivery, ensuring system stability and scalability.
- Collaborate with QA, Development, and DevOps teams to automate workflows and improve deployment pipelines.
- Oversee system monitoring, performance tuning, and proactive issue resolution.
- Ensure clear communication with the service desk and stakeholders regarding system changes and testing protocols.
As a Lead Linux Administrator, you will have:
- A degree in a STEM-related field.
- 8+ years of commercial experience in Linux systems engineering/administration.
- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to guide and grow a technical team.
- Strong scripting skills in Python and Bash.
- Experience with virtualization technologies such as Nutanix or VMware.
- Good understanding of networking concepts, including multicasting.
- Ansible, Kubernetes, Nagios, GIT, and FIX Protocol experience.
