Lead Linux Systems Administrator – Infrastructure & Team Leadership | London. Miller Maxwell is recruiting on behalf of a well-established, profitable, and globally expanding institutional brokerage. With over 500 employees across four regions, the firm is investing heavily in its infrastructure and seeks a Lead Linux Systems Administrator to drive technical excellence and lead strategic infrastructure projects across Europe.
This is a hands-on leadership role combining deep technical expertise with team management and strategic delivery.
As Lead Linux Systems Administrator, you’ll oversee the evolution of critical Linux environments while mentoring a growing team. You’ll lead infrastructure initiatives, balance BAU support with strategic delivery, and champion automation and innovation across the business.
- Lead and mentor a team of Linux engineers, fostering a high-performance culture.
- Design and build new Linux environments as part of major infrastructure projects in 2025.
- Remain hands-on with system administration, scripting (Python/Bash), and troubleshooting.
- Drive adoption of automation tools and streamline operational workflows.
- Collaborate with QA, Development, and DevOps teams to improve deployment pipelines.
- Oversee system monitoring, performance tuning, and proactive issue resolution.
- Ensure clear communication with service desk and stakeholders on system changes.
- 8+ years of experience in Linux systems engineering/administration.
- Proven leadership experience managing technical teams.
- Experience managing Systems Administrators, DevOps, or Infrastructure teams - essential that you have managed teams.
- Strong scripting skills in Python and Bash
- Experience with virtualization technologies (Nutanix, VMware)
- Solid understanding of networking concepts, including multicasting
