Overview
A leading asset management firm is expanding its Front Office Execution team and is looking for a Data Engineer to help build and optimise the data pipelines that power real‑time equities trading. This is a hands‑on role at the centre of the investment process, working directly with traders, quants, and execution specialists to deliver fast, reliable, and scalable data solutions.
Responsibilities
- Designing and maintaining Python‑based data pipelines for market data, analytics, and execution workflows
- Building and optimising datasets used for pre‑trade, intraday, and post‑trade analysis
- Working with traders to understand data requirements and translate them into robust engineering solutions
- Developing tools that support execution quality, transaction cost analysis, and liquidity modelling
- Managing and querying relational databases using SQL to support reporting and decision‑making
- Ensuring data accuracy, timeliness, and resilience across front‑office systems
- Collaborating with technology teams to improve data architecture, automation, and monitoring
Qualifications
- Strong experience with Python in a data engineering or analytics environment
- Solid understanding of SQL and relational database design
- Familiarity with traditional data technologies (ETL, batch/stream processing, APIs, scheduling tools)
- Ability to work closely with traders and front‑office stakeholders
- Experience in financial markets — equities, market data, or execution — is a strong advantage
- A proactive mindset and comfort working in fast‑moving, high‑impact environments
