What you’ll do:

  • Support the Catastrophe Analytics team in providing catastrophe risk and exposure analyses for Miller Business Units.
  • Contribute to the modelling, analysis, preparation and communication of catastrophe risk information in support of the placement and monitoring of insurance and reinsurance risks across the Lloyd’s, London and international markets.
  • Working under the guidance of more experienced colleagues, develop practical knowledge of catastrophe modelling, exposure data management, insurance and reinsurance products, and relevant analytical techniques.
  • Support the modelling and analysis of catastrophe exposure across a range of business streams, which may include Delegated Authorities, Property and Casualty, Marine, Energy and Construction, Portfolio Solutions and Reinsurance, helping to enhance Miller’s offering to its clients.
  • Assist with investigations into the appropriateness and sensitivity of modelling assumptions, while maintaining Miller’s commercial position and relevant professional standards.
  • Maintain robust documentation, data cleansing, data manipulation and peer review practices to ensure accuracy and relevance of model outputs and assumptions, clearly explaining any limitations of outputs.
  • Communicate modelling process and results with internal and, where appropriate, external stakeholders, both verbally and through formal reports/presentations, to an excellent standard
  • Work with the team to build trusting relationships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Ensure excellent standards of accuracy in work, ensuring all work is appropriately peer-reviewed and work with the team to manage competing priorities to deliver work in a timely fashion.
  • Develop technical knowledge of catastrophe modelling, exposure management, insurance and reinsurance products, catastrophe perils and relevant modelling platforms.
  • Adhere to and meet fully the expectations of Miller, as set out in its policies and procedures, training material, and embedded in its systems and controls. Our policies and procedures are written to encapsulate the compliance, legal and financial crime related legislation and regulations which apply to Miller.
  • Comply with any external rules and requirements imposed on individuals performing their role at Miller, such as Lloyd’s byelaws and FCA rules.
  • Promote Miller brand and values to enhance Miller’s reputation in the market
