I am working with a well-established and forward-thinking law firm with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality legal services across a range of practice areas. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an experienced and motivated Costs Lawyer to join their dynamic team.
The Role
As a Costs Lawyer, you will play a key role in managing and maximising costs recovery across a varied caseload. You will work closely with fee earners and external stakeholders to ensure accurate drafting, negotiation, and recovery of legal costs.
Key Responsibilities
- Drafting and preparing bills of costs (including multi-track, fast-track, and fixed costs matters)
- Preparing Points of Dispute and Replies
- Conducting negotiations and attending detailed assessment hearings where required
- Managing costs budgets and costs management processes
- Advising fee earners on costs strategy and compliance
- Handling inter partes and solicitor/client costs matters
- Ensuring compliance with CPR and relevant costs rules
About You
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Costs Lawyer (ACL) or equivalent experience
- Proven experience drafting bills and managing detailed assessments
- Strong knowledge of CPR and costs case law
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills
- Ability to manage your own caseload with minimal supervision
Desirable
- Experience with costs budgeting and electronic bill formats
- Advocacy experience in detailed assessment hearings
- Familiarity with case management systems
