Virtualization Engineer

This is a unique opportunity for an expert in virtualization and storage technologies. The Principal Architect will be a hands-on design engineer, specializing in virtualization technologies for virtual servers and VDI using VMware and Nutanix.

Responsibilities:

  • Design enterprise level virtual technologies for the firm
  • Manage the day-to-day administration of VMWare and Nutanix clusters
  • Performance and capacity management projections
  • Create documentation for best practices in deploying Hyper converge solutions
  • Provide virtual platform system technical performance and availability recommendations
  • Plan and engineer expansion of converged infrastructure
  • Deploy and test HA/BCP virtual environments for the firm
  • Provide guidance for virtualization best practices
  • Participate in the design and support of all backend infrastructure components for the virtual environment for the firm.

Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience with VMWare technologies
  • 2 – 3 years of hands-on experience with Nutanix HCI
  • Extensive Virtualization Experience such as design, implement, and manage virtual environments, including Datacenter cluster(s) managed by vCenter.
  • Experience with VMware vCenter design/Nutanix Prism Central and implementation best practices.
  • Experience with building and maintaining high-availability (>99%) VMware environments
  • Extensive server hardware knowledge with HPE, Dell or SuperMicro server
  • Ability to perform root cause analysis on all VMware products. E.g. ESX hosts, Virtual Centers, and Virtual Machines
  • Ability to administrate, maintain, and troubleshoot Storage Area Networks (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS) attached to Virtual environments
  • Thorough knowledge of setting up different BCP technologies such as Zerto, SRM, Rubrik, Netbackup etc
  • Ability to collaborate with different teams working across different areas in multiple locations in different time zones

Nice to have skills:

  • Experience working with GPU at the enterprise level for VDI deployment.
  • Working experience with other operating systems such as Linux, Windows
  • Basic network knowledge working in an enterprise data center Environment.
  • PowerShell or Python scripting experience is a plus
  • Familiar with automation tools such as Chef, Jenkin, Pipelines and etc
  • Experience with other hypervisors such Citrix XenServer, Hyperv, Openstack is a plus.
  • Container experience with Kubernetes or Docker is a plus
