This Windows Systems Engineer will work within the End User Engineering team. The team is responsible for engineering and supporting the firm’s Desktop Workspace across physical, virtual and cloud Windows platforms, including Windows OS, desktop DR, hardware integration, configuration management, application delivery, Citrix Remote Access, Azure MFA and Windows Thin clients.
Responsibilities:
- Engineering Windows builds, integrating Windows desktop operating systems and core applications.
- Employ automation and rigorous QA methodologies to ensure the delivery of a consistent and reliable Workspace service including maintaining the Windows servicing model.
- Supporting and developing the DR solution built on Acronis, Powershell, VMWare, web services and SQL.
- Analyze performance data to provide resources utilization information in support of operational process.
- Analyze, plan, test, document and implement regular, advanced or special maintenance activities of systems hardware and software to meet service level agreements with user groups.
- Strong skills troubleshooting and resolving issues with desktop virtualization, Citrix VDA integration and SQL.
- Participate in the firm’s change, incident, and problem management processes.
- Create and maintain knowledge base, run books configuration and support documentation.
- Provide third line technical support, system administration and engineering for the desktop DR solution.
- Provide additional support as required for global Windows desktop and Citrix environment with components such as SCCM, InTune, Citrix VDA, Storefront, Azure MFA.
Qualifications And Required Skills:
- Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 10+ years of experience with Windows desktop, VDI and Citrix technologies covering administration, maintenance and deployments in an enterprise-engineering role.
- Quick learner, detail oriented; demonstrate thoroughness and strong ownership of work.
- Strong troubleshooting mindset (e.g. parsing event logs, Sysinternals tools, dump analysis).
- Excellent team-working, collaboration and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent scripting and programming experience e.g. PowerShell, .NET, C#, C++.
- Thorough knowledge of Acronis backup / P2V conversions.
- Proficient using GitHub, Jira, Confluence and software release pipelines.
- Knowledge of VMware ESX, VC.
- Thorough knowledge of Citrix XenApp and XenDesktop technologies.
- Thorough understanding and experience of common native Windows infrastructure components and configuration management (Active Directory / GPO).
- Experience integrating the latest Windows 11 features and deployment strategies.
- Experience with modern management tools in large-scale environments including SCCM, InTune, Citrix XenApp / XenDesktop, VMware, XenServer.
- Knowledge of and experience with Systrack, LiquidWare, App-v, login VSI and Office 365 is desirable.
- Knowledge of delivering stateless desktops with streamed application or layered applications using Citrix App Layering or similar technologies is desirable.
- Knowledge of Citrix NetScaler with Insight/Command Center and NMAS would be a plus.
- Knowledge of Citrix StoreFront multi region and RSA multi-factor would be a plus.
