We are seeking an experienced Network Engineer to join our latency-critical trading infrastructure team. As part of a global follow-the-sun team of network engineers across North America, EMEA, and APAC, the Network Engineer will focus on the architecture, design, development, deployment, and support of Millennium’s high-performance global networks. These networks have extreme uptime requirements and utilize cutting-edge technologies. This role encompasses all aspects of networking, including datacenters, market data, co-location (co-lo), and proximity colocation sites.
Principal Responsibilities
- Senior Engineering Role: Focus on low-latency network technologies with a balanced mix of project work and operations in the low-latency trading environment, including Market Data, Trading, and co-lo design.
- Project Management: Own and manage global network projects from start to finish, including requirement gathering, design, cost analysis, implementation, and deployment.
- Innovation Leadership: Lead research and innovation efforts to introduce new network technologies into the firm, including RF technologies, low-latency transport, routing/switching, and compute technologies.
- Network Configuration and Support: Configure, install, maintain, and support critical network software and hardware components. Research, price out, and implement data circuits. Design and implement high-availability, low-latency Market Data networks.
- Operations and Troubleshooting: Deploy, support, and troubleshoot the network infrastructure. Document the IT infrastructure, policies, and procedures. Provide general user support and participate in after-hours work and an on-call rotation.
Qualifications/Skills Required
- Technical Expertise: Expert in low-latency network technologies, including Multicast (IGMP, PIM), L2/L3, and WAN design. Expert in routing protocols such as BGP and OSPF. Experience with Arista, Cisco, and Layer 1 switches. Knowledge of FPGA and high-performance computing technologies is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 10 years of experience in network engineering, operations, and support. Proven ability to work hands-on and take strong technical ownership in a global organization.
- Networking and Troubleshooting: Expert knowledge of IP networking, TCP/IP, and troubleshooting. Experience with Python and Bash scripting to automate tasks. Strong Linux shell experience.
- Soft Skills: Strong interpersonal and written communication skills. Proven ability to operate in a fast-paced environment. Passion for delivering high levels of service and support to internal customers.
