The Copthorne Hotel Newcastle is seeking an experienced Senior Sous Chef to join our Senior Kitchen team and help lead the team in delivering a high standard of food.

What are we expecting from a Senior Sous Chef?

  • Guiding and supporting the Kitchen team, ensuring they have the skills required to deliver an excellent standard of food
  • A hands-on approach, supporting the Head Chef in the day-to-day running of the Kitchen
  • Planning menus within cost targets
  • Controlling food costs and achieving gross profit targets (including monitoring waste)
  • Ensuring processes are in place to achieve high standards of cleanliness, consistently
  • Ensuring compliance with Health & Safety and Food Safety requirements

What We Are Looking For

  • Proven track record as a Sous chef within a quality hotel
  • Ability to lead and effectively supervise the kitchen team
  • High standards of hygiene and Health & Safety controls
  • Knowledge of computerised ordering system
  • Enthusiastic and motivated with an eye for detail and accuracy
  • Calm under pressure while maintaining an assertive but professional manner
  • The ability to work 5 shifts out of 7 on a rota basis, weekend work is included

Dining facilities at the hotel include The Quay 7 Restaurant which offers an à la carte menu with a variety of seasonal dishes. The Quay 7 bar and outdoor terrace offer an extensive wine list and a selection of beers and spirits, along with a variety of hot beverages.
