The Copthorne Hotel Aberdeen is seeking an experienced Head Chef to lead the Kitchen team.
Key responsibilities include:
- Creating a stable working environment and high morale within the Kitchen team, providing training, guidance and support to each individual.
- Creating menus, focusing on quality, taking into account guest preferences, seasonality and controlling food costs to achieve gross profit targets.
- Placing food orders in line with purchasing instructions and specifications.
- Ensuring that the team are trained to deal effectively with receipt of delivery, authorising acceptance and overseeing correct storage of goods received.
- Ensuring that effective systems are in place for the operation and cleaning of equipment correctly, adhering to maintenance, safety requirements and cleaning schedules.
- Ensuring appropriate systems and processes are in place to comply with regulations relating to Health & Safety, Food Safety, Hotel rules and regulations and Emergency procedures.
- Effectively managing the Kitchen team, dealing with recruitment, induction, training and development including completion of regular reviews, annual appraisals, etc.
What are we looking for?
- Previous experience as a Head Chef/Sous Chef.
- Proven track record as a Head Chef/Sous Chef in culinary skills, kitchen management and development of the Kitchen team.
- Enthusiastic and motivated, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- An excellent communicator who has the ability to develop positive relationships with other departments in the hotel to ensure that control measures are understood and adhered to.

The Copthorne Hotel Aberdeen is a beautifully maintained historic building situated in the heart of Aberdeen’s West End and provides convenient access to surrounding areas. The hotel offers 87 bedrooms, all with modern amenities. The Grain Store Bistro & Bar offers a warm and friendly atmosphere with something for everyone from our delicious menu, lighter meals are available in the bar area. Our Aberdon Function Suite, with private bar is ideal for conferences, exhibitions, private events and weddings.
