Due to a recent upturn in business levels, a new and exciting Casual Kitchen Porter role has become available at the Copthorne Hotel in Newcastle. Are you passionate about cleaning and love to see things ship‑shape and spotless? If yes, we want to speak to you! We are currently seeking a Casual Kitchen Porter that can be flexible around the needs of the business (as well as your own commitments) to support the smooth and efficient running of the kitchen, adhering to all cleaning, hygiene and food safety processes.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the receiving and storage of all food deliveries, ensuring the proper storage of food items as quickly as possible after delivery after checking temperatures in line with food safety expectations.
  • Ensuring daily and weekly deep cleaning tasks are completed as per the cleaning schedule and signed off in the appropriate kitchen records.
  • Following the correct date/day labelling system as expected by Head Chef.
  • Keeping your work area clean, safe, neat and tidy adopting a ‘clean as you go’ approach.
  • Regularly checking the amount of clean crockery and utensils, making sure there is always sufficient stock for the effective running of the kitchen.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a 4* hotel is desirable, although full training is provided.
  • Good communication skills with a positive and energetic nature.
  • It’s a physical role and you’ll be on your feet most of the day, so fitness is important.
  • Flexible attitude to shifts – you may need to work nights, weekends and/or holidays.
