Full Time permanent 33.75 hours – unpaid break but paid handover

We’re on the lookout for experienced Senior Care Assistants, ideally with experience in dementia, to join the team at our new 52‑bed home, Langtree, nestled within the Standish Care Village.

Role Overview

As a Senior Care Assistant you will provide support and leadership to the Care staff within the service whilst working in line with the Household Model of Care. You will deliver the highest standard of care in line with current best practices, policies and procedures, agreed standards, legislative requirements and relevant regulations under the direction of the Nurse in Charge/Clinical Lead/Home Manager. You will also ensure written care plans are maintained to an outstanding level and undertake continuing training and development as required. You will have at least a Level 2 qualification in Health and Social Care. Experience of working in a care setting is essential; experience working in a dementia setting is preferred.

Role Specific Duties

  • Ensure that residents are at the heart of care delivery and their wishes and preferences are taken into consideration to enhance their wellbeing.
  • Supervise staff and ensure that all staff contribute to the efficient running of the service.
  • Understand personal care planning and take responsibility for all aspects of care plan creation and writing.
  • Contribute to the efficient running of the home at all times.
  • Understand and champion the Household Model of Care.
  • Support residents to maintain their relationships and connections with the local community.
  • Provide the highest standard of individualised person‑centred care and attention, treating all residents with dignity, privacy and respect at all times.
  • Assist residents with their personal care such as washing and dressing.
  • Administer daily medicines in line with GP instructions and liaise with the NiC and SCP once completed.
  • Undertake minor medical duties such as oral hygiene, application of topical creams, skin integrity checks, catheter care and end‑of‑life care.
  • Ensure, together with the wider team, that all residents’ needs are met—medical, physical, social and emotional.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of the residents we are supporting.

Working with Others

  • Develop effective working relationships with other employees and support and develop new and less experienced members of the team.
  • Attend daily clinical meetings arranged by the Nurse in Charge.
  • Participate in team meetings.
  • Promptly inform the Nurse in Charge or Clinical Lead of any changes in the needs of the residents, seeking appropriate medical advice when required.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with residents, their families, friends and other visitors to create a nurturing environment.
  • Ensure health and safety compliance, reporting any hazards or potential hazards to the relevant person.
  • Co‑operate with multidisciplinary teams to maximise opportunities for service users.

  • Be a role model for other team members and an ambassador for the service, mentoring the team to build strong relationships.
  • Maintain professionalism, politeness and reasonableness at all times.
  • Provide a warm welcome to all new residents, team members and visitors and familiarise them with the home.

  • Attend statutory training and any other training as directed, remaining open to learning opportunities.
  • Have a good understanding of dementia and its impact on residents.
  • Have basic knowledge of CQC and fundamental standards.
