Care Assistant – Lakeside Care Home

Employment Type: Part Time, Permanent. Majority of shifts are weekends, with some flexibility on hours.

Role

Overview: As a Carer, you will support the home in delivering the highest standards of person‑centred care, preserving the dignity, respect, and wellbeing of our residents at all times.

Experience in a health and social care setting is preferred but not essential.

  • Ensure residents are at the heart of care delivery and their wishes and preferences are considered to enhance their wellbeing.
  • Understand personal care planning and take responsibility for all aspects of care where required.
  • Contribute to the efficient running of the home at all times.
  • Support residents to maintain their relationships and connections with the local community.
  • Provide the highest standard of individualized person‑centred care and attention, treating residents with dignity, privacy, and respect at all times.
  • Assist residents with personal care such as washing and dressing.
  • Administer daily medicines in line with GP instructions and liaise with the Nurse in charge once completed.
  • Perform minor medical duties such as oral hygiene, application of topical creams, skin integrity checks, catheter care, and end‑of‑life care.
  • Help ensure that all residents’ needs – medical, physical, social, and emotional – are met, in partnership with the wider team.

Others: Develop effective working relationships with other employees, support and mentor new and less experienced team members, attend daily clinical meetings and team meetings, promptly inform the Nurse in charge of any changes in residents’ needs, maintain relationships with residents, families, friends, and visitors, and uphold health and safety regulations.

Example: Seek opportunities for professional and personal growth, be a role model and ambassador for the service, maintain professionalism, provide a warm welcome to new residents, team members, and visitors.
