Full Time permanent 33.75 hours – unpaid break but paid handover
We're on the lookout for experienced Care Assistants, ideally with experience in dementia, to join the team at our new 52-bed home, Langtree, nested within the Standish Care Village.
Role Overview
As a Care Assistant, you will support the Senior Care Practitioner and Nurse in Charge in delivering the highest standards of person‑centred care, preserving the dignity, respect and wellbeing of our residents at all times. You will support and enable residents to maintain their skills and personal interests, implementing the Household Model of Care at all times whilst maintaining your skills and undertaking such training and development as required. Experience of working in a care setting is essential; experience working in a dementia setting is preferred.
Role Specific Duties
- Ensure that residents are at the heart of care delivery and their wishes and preferences are taken into consideration to enhance their wellbeing
- Understand personal care planning and take responsibility for all aspects of care where required
- Contribute to the efficient running of the home at all times
- Understand and champion the Household Model of Care at all times
- Support residents to maintain their relationships and connections with the local community
- Provide the highest standard of individualised person‑centred care and attention to all residents, treating them with dignity, privacy and respect at all times
- Assist residents with their personal care such as washing and dressing
- Administer daily medicines in line with GP instructions and liaise with the Nurse in Charge and/or Senior Care Practitioner once completed
- Carry out minor medical duties such as oral hygiene, application of topical creams, skin integrity checks, catheter care and end‑of‑life support
- Ensure, alongside the wider team, that all residents' needs are met (medical, physical, social and emotional)
- Promote and safeguard the welfare of the residents we are supporting
Working with Others
- Develop effective working relationships with other employees and support new and less experienced team members
- Attend daily clinical meetings arranged by the nurse in charge
- Participate in team meetings
- Promptly inform the Nurse in Charge or Senior Care Practitioner of any changes in residents’ needs
- Maintain and develop relationships with residents, their families, friends and other visitors to the home
- Ensure your own health and safety and that of others in the home under Health and Safety regulations, promptly reporting any hazards or potential hazards to the relevant person

- Seek opportunities for professional and personal growth and development
- Be a role model for other team members and an ambassador for the service
- Maintain professionalism, politeness and reasonableness at all times
- Provide a warm welcome to all new residents, team members and visitors and familiarise them with the home
Personal and Professional Development
- Attend statutory training and any other training as directed whilst being open to learning opportunities
- Develop a good understanding of dementia and its impact on those living with the disease
- Have a basic knowledge of CQC and the fundamental standards
- Adhere to all of Millennium Care UK Ltd.’s policies and procedures
