Part‑time, permanent, 27 hours per week. We’re looking for a Chef to join our team at Lavender Hills. This role prepares meals that facilitate an engaging mealtime experience for residents.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare menus in consultation with service users, taking into account preferences, special diets and nutrition needs.
  • Prepare and serve all meals in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements and Lavender Hills Care Home standards for food hygiene, storage and temperature control.
  • Order and purchase catering ingredients and equipment within budgetary constraints.
  • Manage waste effectively.
  • Seek and incorporate feedback from service users to plan menu changes.
  • Operate an efficient stock control system and maintain strict control over catering costs.
  • Ensure all equipment is used with care, maintained, and faults reported immediately.
  • Withdraw any unsafe equipment from use without delay.
  • Lead, motivate and develop the kitchen team, including recruitment, induction, annual appraisals and supervision.
  • Maintain accurate and legible records.
  • Promote and safeguard the welfare of individuals supported by the service.
  • Attend regular meetings to stay informed of views, expectations and operational updates.
